Lisa Howze is a self-motivated, trustworthy, and committed leader.  A native Detroiter, she was raised by a single mother on Detroit’s west side. Howze was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system and graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1991.  Seeing educational achievement as a passport to the future, Lisa obtained two college degrees -- a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in 1995, and a Master of Science in Finance from Walsh College in 2004.  Howze is a certified public accountant licensed in the state of Michigan.

Editorial Page Editor for the Detroit News Nolan Finley described Howze as a "civic activist".   In this capacity, she served four years as president of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) - Detroit Chapter, an organization whose motto is “Lifting as We Climb”. Under Howze’s leadership, local area high school and college students received more than $60,000 in scholarships; hundreds of young men and women were mentored and exposed to careers in accounting and business; and, several Detroit families with small children were warmed during the holiday season through NABA’s Adopt-a-Family program, a partnership with Salvation Army.

Professionally, Howze has more than 14 years of public accounting and client service experience.  As a business owner and entrepreneur, Howze is innovative and creative in her approach to solving clients’ problems.  She focuses on producing results.  As a public speaker and finance professional, Howze continues to conduct financial education seminars to help empower members of the community.

In addition to her lifetime membership in NABA, Howze belongs to a number of other professional associations and civic groups, including the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Women Business Owners, Trade Union Leaders Council, and the Michigan Democratic Party.
